Volunteer Organizations

In the United States, there are many volunteer organizations that exist to improve a certain aspect of life, ranging from protection of natural flora and fauna to aid organizations that work in 3rd world countries to improve the quality of life for the local residents. The following organizations have a large presence in the American volunteer world.

Peace Corps - The most famous volunteer program in the U.S. sends volunteers to other countries to assist with teaching, community building, and other humanitarian projects.

Red Cross - The largest American volunteer program is involved in blood drives and many international relief efforts after natural disasters or other major problems.

Habitat for Humanity - Largely working on U.S. soil, this volunteer program builds houses for the needy in many different communities.

Lions Club - The volunteers of the Lions Club is involved in fundraising projects for international concerns as well as support projects for many local communities.
