Frequently Asked QuestionsHow do I volunteer? You are now able to register as a member of Volunteer Impact by creating your own online account. Once you are registered, you will be able to begin making an "impact" on our community by signing up for our monthly projects. Volunteer Impact can keep track of the events you volunteered at should you require a listing for some reason (school requirements, court-appointed community service, employee matching hours etc.) It is recommended that you also contact the the project coordinators listed to confirm the event and timing with the agency listed. Be sure you are also signed up to receive our monthly emailed newsletter Connections which lists volunteer opportunities each month. NOTE: Many email programs have firewalls that prevent our newsletter email from reaching people. If you are signed up but are not receiving our monthly calendar, check your SPAM or bulk mailboxes. Sometimes you can contact your web administrator and tell them you wish to receive mail from website@volunteerimpact.org. Remember that you can always download our newsletter from the website as well.
How do I become a Project Coordinator? After you have volunteered at several projects and find you'd like to become a PC (Project Coordinator), just call the office or email VI and let us know you are interested! We always welcome new PCs. The PC's responsibilities are to welcome volunteers at an event and to check in with the venue to confirm what that agency wishes.
How does one become a Partner Agency? In order to become a Partner Agency, please call the Volunteer Impact offices and we will send you a New Agency Packet. Current partner agencies are now able to list their upcoming activities online. Volunteer Impact will list any non-profit's occasional volunteer needs as long as they do not include fundraising for your organization, that there is no fee to volunteer, and that no training, other than at the event is required. Be sure to include information such as suggested ages, if your event is geared towards a particular group (such as singles, seniors, students, families etc.), and any special requirements (bring work gloves and a shovel etc., there will be some bending...etc.)
If I sign up online, am I registered for an event? If you have signed up online to volunteer at an event, Volunteer Impact will forward your name for you to the agency you are volunteering at--you don't need to do anything further. VI will not send out a separate confirmation to you. If you have questions about an event, please do not hesitate to contact the coordinator listed, or contact us at Volunteer Impact by phone or email.
How do I get Community Service Credit? If you need a form signed for Community Service credit for high school or other program, be sure to have it signed by the coordinator at the event. Accumulated hours are tracked by VI if you sign up online as well. Contact VI if you have any questions.Note that some schools require special forms to be filled out. Remember to take any required forms TO any volunteer event.
I signed up online for the wrong event, or I cannot attend. The website will now allow volunteers to erase their name once they are signed up for an event. If you are unable to attend, or if you have accidentally signed up for the wrong event, please return to the website and cancel your attendance.
Can I make a donation online?
Volunteer Impact depends on donations to make our efforts possible. Our expenses are minimal, but phone, fax, printing and insurance are just some of the costs we must bear. VI has beautiful tribute cards that are appropriate for alloccasions--from celebrating a graduation or a Bar Mitzvah, to honoringthe memory of a loved one. Special holiday tribute cards are also available--the perfect gift to honor your employees and relatives. For corporate giving, please contact our office.
