Gifts and DonationsWhen thinking about gifts and donations, most people will think of material objects or money. While those are important, they are not the only way in which people can contribute to a cause. People who do volunteer work are actually donating their time, as well as their effort. Not everybody has the time to take action personally however, or the means for that matter. A person who lives in Canada has little chance to help rebuild Japan after a tsunami, or Haiti after an earthquake, for instance. Therein lies the significance of donating money to a cause, or give away other things like food and clothes.
There are many different ways to make a donation, such as in person, by mail, depositing money in a bank account or even via the internet. Nevertheless, it is crucial to verify the legitimacy of a particular cause. One surefire way to make a worthwhile donation that will not go to waste is giving blood to a local hospital's blood bank.
