Who Do Volunteers Help? Many people find volunteer work to be a fulfilling and rewarding experience, and while this may very well be the case, it is important to keep in mind that the goal of volunteering is to help someone else that is less fortunate. But who exactly benefits from volunteer work? Some groups are always in need of a helping hand, as is the case of the homeless, the sick, the hungry and the poor. Others may suddenly find themselves in a position where they have to depend on the kindness of strangers, for example if a natural disaster has hit their hometown or country.
Another instance of people who require help from volunteers are refugees, and also the population of war torn nations. School systems all over the world depend heavily on volunteers and donations in order to function properly. The environment itself may become a recipient of volunteer work, which in turn will benefit everyone else on planet Earth.
